New Quarterly $100 Contest

We plan on running $100 Contest week at least quarterly. Winners of the $50 Weekly Contest, under the revised judging rules, are eligible to submit an entry for a $100 Contest. The rules for submission in the $100 Contest are the same as for the $50 Weekly Contest.

We have been receiving more first-published stories and will give preference to first-published stories for publication in a $50 Weekly Contest. We will accept only first-published submissions for the $100 Contest.

Our copyright is nonexclusive, which means you agree that your story will be posted on our website during a contest and in the archives, but you can otherwise do with it what you want. After the contest is over, you may post the story on your blog, put it in your e-book, and other publication.

We expect some people will ask if they can submit a story only to the $100 Contest. NO.

All writers must submit a story to a $50 Weekly Contest. If a writer wins a $50 Weekly Contest, the writer may submit a first-published story in a $100 Contest. Even so, entry into a $100 Contest is not automatic. The Editor still reviews and selects the stories for the $100 Contest.

The eligibility for a $100 Contest applies only to winners of the $50 Weekly Contest under the new judging rules, and not any contests since our inception through October 1, 2012. Winners under the new judging rules have up to one year to submit a first-published story for a $100 Contest.

Otherwise, the rules of the $100 Contest are the same as the rules of a $50 Weekly Contest. The $100 Contests are scheduled to run quarterly, but may be more frequent, if we build an inventory of eligible stories.

For details about our submission selection, see “Send Us Submissions.”
